MAYBEURY FLOOD

PHOTO INFORMATION BY BETTY POPE CUNNINGHAM

Good Morning:

First, I just wanted to say how much I have enjoyed seeing your website.  It certainly brings
back a lot of memories since I grew up in Maybeury and graduated from Elkhorn High School.
I noticed that you asked for information about the picture labeled "Maybeury Flood".

The row of houses across the road were referred to as "Post Office Row" and my family lived
in the second house while I was in elementary school.  The first building was called "Engineers
Building" and the attachment to the right was the post office.  The yard that is flooded was the
yard of Dr. Peters' home and I think this would have been in the 1940s.  The picture belonged to
my mother-in-law (Mattie Cunningham).

I hope this reaches you and is of some interest to you.  Thanks again for providing so much
information about my hometown.

Betty (Pope) Cunningham
