GEORGE BENJAMIN HARRIS

Concord, Va. - George Benjamin Harris, 77, of Concord, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1999, at Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was the husband of Margaret Hill Harris.
Born in Coopers on April 20, 1922, he was a son of Elbert Lee Harris, Sr. and Dora Jane Bell Harris. Mr. Harris was retired from Griffin Pipe Products and was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Jesse L. Harris of Titusville, Fla., and Harry J. Harris, Paul D. Harris and George Bernard Harris, all of Lynchburg, Va.; two sisters, Lois Fleming of Alhambra, Calif., and Edith Butt of Coopers; two granddaughters and three grandsons.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Union Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Pope officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post 16.
The family will receive friends at the residence. Diuguid Waterlick Chapel is serving the family.

MARGARET HILL HARRIS


Margaret Hill Harris, 80, of Concord, died Friday, March 5, 2004, in Rocky Mount.
Born Feb. 21, 1924, in Laurel Bloomery, Tenn., she was a daughter of Forney Byron Hill and Margaret Josephine Dunn Hill.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Benjamin Harris; three sisters, Elzora Hill, Mary H. Able and Ora H. Maxey; and a brother, Mack Hill.
She retired as a cook at E.C. Glass High School and was a member of the Union Hill Baptist Church.
Surviving are four sons, Jesse Lee Harris of Titusville, Fla., Harry James Harris and Paul Douglas Harris, both of Lynchburg, George Bernard Harris of Martinsville; one sister, Barbara Ann Gillespie of Lynchburg; one brother, Dwight E. Hill of Nashville, Tenn.; and five grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Union Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Cliff Jordan officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. today at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel.
